USDINR opened at 74.12 y’day and the pair traded in the 74.06-74.40 range. Spot USDINR closed at 74.38, gain of 35 ps USD as against prior close of 74.03. RBI reference rate was fixed at 74.16 on 10/11Nov USD/INR closed at 74.50, gain of 29 ps for USD as compared to prior day’s close of 74.21. Oct Euro/INR closed at 86.16, GBP/INR at 100.71 and Yen/INR at 65.86. USDINR fwd premia was trading at around 4.70% p.a.  FX reserves is at USD 640 bn.

In Oct, FII’S have net sold Rs 12205 cr in Equity segment and have net sold Rs 1816 cr of debt. In this financial year, FII’S have net sold Rs 4994 Cr worth of Indian Equities and have bought Rs 17572 Cr worth of Indian debt. In 2020-21 financial Year, FII’S nett bought Rs 2,74,203 Cr of Equities and have sold Rs  42820 Cr in debt.

Benchmark Nifty declined 0.15% y’day. DOW declined 240 points (0.66%). Nikkei was down 0.61% and Hang seng climbed 0.74% y’day.

Euro is now at 1.1479, Pound at 1.3406, Yen at 114.07.

Commodities: Gold is now at USD 1848 and WT1Crude at USD 81.50/Brent at USD 82.85.

Interest rates: USD 10 Yr yield is at 1.57% and 3 m libor closed at 0.12%. Indian 10 yr benchmark yield closed at 6.29%.

Economic news: US CPI rose sharply by 0.9% mom in October, well above expectation of 0.5% mom. CPI core rose 0.6% mom, also well above expectation of 0.3% mom. Over the 12-month period, headline CPI accelerated to 6.2% yoy, up from 5.4% yoy, well above expectation of 5.3% yoy. That’s also the highest level since November 1990. Soaring inflation triggered Euro’s fall below 1.1525. US Equities also ended lower. Gold climbed higher.

Data highlights: – US CPI climbed 0.9% m/m  and weekly jobless claims was reported at 267k.

Thursday’s calendar: – UK GDP, Industrial and manufacturing production.
