USDINR opened at 75.58 y’day and the pair traded in the 75.37-75.60 range. Spot USDINR closed at 75.56 , gain of 10 ps for USD as against prior close of 75.46. RBI reference rate was fixed at 75.44 y’day. May USD/INR closed at 75.68, gain of 27 ps for USD as compared to prior day’s close of 75.41. May Euro/INR closed at 81.55, GBP/INR at 92.29 and Yen/INR at 70.63.
FII’S have nett bought Rs 15864 Cr of Indian Equities in May . This is due to block deal in HUL shares through book buiding process. FII’S have nett sold Rs 541 Cr of Indian debt securities in May. In FY 19-20, FII’s have sold Rs 10200 Cr of Equities and 47393 cr of debt.
Benchmark Nifty climbed 2.57% y’day. DOW climbed 377 points (1.16%) y’day. Nikkei declined 1.74% and Hang seng declined 1.45% y’day.

Economic news: FM announced free food grains, affordable housing for migrant workers, one nation-one ration card, extension of credit subsidy for middle class purchasing affordable housing , credit to street vendors, interest subvention in one category of MUDRA loan and expansion of Kisan Credit cards to cover more farmers.
Global markets remained cautious as US President talked tough on China and Fed Chairman cuationed great pain and lasting negative impact on the economy.
Data highlights : US Weekly jobless claims showed that 2.98 mn filed for benefits.
