USDINR opened at 81.98 Y’day and the pair traded in the 81.69-82.01 range. Spot USDINR closed at 81.76, loss of 15 ps for USD as against prior close of 81.91.
RBI reference rate was fixed at 81.91 on 26/04. May USD/INR closed at 81.90, loss of 17 ps for USD as compared to prior day’s close of 82.07. May Euro/INR closed at 90.47, GBP/INR at 102.18 and Yen/INR at 61.76. USDINR fwd premia was trading at around 2.30% p.a. FX reserves climbed USD 2 bn as compared to prior week and stood at USD 586 bn as on Apr 14 th.

In April, FII’S have bought Rs 6276 Cr of Equities and have bought Rs 730 Cr of debt . In 2022-23 fiscal year, FII’S have net sold Rs 27593 Cr of Equities and have net bought Rs 838 Cr of debt.
Benchmark Nifty climbed 44 points (0.25%) y’day. DOW declined 228 points (0.68%) y’day. Nikkei declined 0.71% and Hang seng climbed 0.71% y’day.
Euro is now at 1.0969, Pound at 1.2403, Yen at 133.70.
Commodities: Gold is now at USD 1998 and WT1Crude at USD 74.50/Brent at USD 78.
Interest rates: USD 10 Yr yield is at 3.44% and 3 m libor closed at 5.22%. Indian 10 yr benchmark yield closed at 7.11%.
Economic news: US durable goods orders rose 3.2% mom to USD 276.4B in March, well above expectation of 0.8% mom. Germany Gfk Consumer Sentiment for May improved from -29.3 to -25.7, above expectation of -27.5. Improving German consumer sentiment supported Euro.
Focus is on US GDP, Core PCE.
Data highlights: – US Durables order climbed 3.2% m/m.
